     Gavin Spencer

As Choir Director at Shasta High School, Mr. Gavin Spencer is very appreciative of the community support, parental volunteer involvement, fantastic colleagues and friends which allow him to continue a high school tradition of outstanding vocal music.  Under his direction, choirs have received superior ratings at festivals, have completed standing ovation performances in Southern California, and have been invited to sing live on “Hour of Power.”

Mr. Spencer received his B.A. in Music with an emphasis on Vocal Performance from Western Oregon University and his Master’s Degree in Education from George Fox University.  Prior to relocating to Redding, Mr. Spencer  was a high school choral director in Tillamook, Oregon where he taught Madrigal, A-Cappella, Women’s and two middle school choirs.  He was musical director in Grease, By Jupiter, and Bye Bye Birdie in which he also conducted the orchestra.

Mr. Spencer has performed in lead roles in Oklahoma (Curly McLain, 1993), State Fair (Pat Gilbert, 1995), and in non-principle roles in Annie, 42nd Street, and Carousel.

Mr. Spencer’s wonderful wife, Michele, is an accomplished pianist and is teaching piano.   The Spencers have four children: Amber, Hayden, Madison, and Jackson.
